The road to ‘zero’
in every detail
Norsk Hydro at Aluminium in DüsseldorfA circular future. At the Aluminium exhibition in Düsseldorf, we were invited to help Norsk Hydro on their journey to a circular future. The stand, constructed from sustainable materials and incorporating smart details like QR codes, underpinned their vision: building a more sustainable world together.
The symbol
of unity
Every detail in the stand supports the path for Norsk Hydro towards sustainability. The central bar with ample space to comfortably accommodate networking about a sustainable future, is a symbol of unity and ensures a convivial atmosphere.

Maximum result
Minimum production
We first looked at how we could eliminate any unnecessary use of materials as far as possible, like carpeting for example. The use of existing and rental materials also had a significant role to play in the design process of the stand. Of wall systems, graphic frames, the bar and the furniture.
We draw the maximum lifecycle from materials through focusing on reuse and rentals. The shop front was comprised of untreated timber that could be dismantled after use. These slats we subsequently passed onto a contractor who could reuse the timber elsewhere.

Farewell plastic communication,
hello QR codes
To provide visitors with insights into sustainable options, QR codes were placed in strategic places. These codes work as interactive portals that tell the sustainability story of the space. Each scan reveals which environmentally friendly materials, design decisions and innovative ideas are behind it all.

Smart design for
A sustainable future
Norsk Hydro is dedicated to making society more sustainable through the smart deployment of natural resources in products. Our design ensured that displays were simple to recycle thanks to the use of untreated timber. The aluminum frame also put Norsk Hydro’s iconic material in the spotlights. Intertwining sustainability and design, to give the Norsk Hydro story a fresh, inspiring lease of life.
