IAA Transportation - HannoverTogether with Volvo Trucks, we made IAA Transportation in Hannover 2024 something quite spectacular. “The most beautiful stand on the exhibition floor!” was the cheer from the Volvo team. Fortunately, visitors and even competitors agreed with this. The stand was everything you have come to expect from Volvo. Clean lines, futuristic and packed with innovation and clearly carrying the message ‘Together towards zero’.
Mission packed
with challenges
If you want to present the Volvo-DNA, you really have to make a statement. Just the kind of challenge that we enjoy at Gielissen. How best to transform Volvo’s Scandinavian roots into an exhibition stand that matches the technological future of the brand.
No fewer than eight vehicles with alternative propulsion, including electric, hydrogen and biofuels that had to be integrated to perfection. As an extra challenge, the stand had to be transformed into a space for a press conference to accommodate 500 in no time at all – just the kind of project we love to build!
They stole
the show
The Volvo story was told subtly through the design of the stand. With wide vistas, lots of timber and green, the Volvo stand was the true eye-catcher and formed the beating heart of the exhibition floor. The vehicles with alternative propulsion stood as pioneers in the spotlights, but it was the stand itself that stole the show.
Comprehensive reuse
Almost everything was reused; less than 5% of the materials were lost after the exhibition. Everything that could be reused by Volvo Trucks at other exhibitions or by us for other projects was repurposed.
Together on the
road to zero
According to Volvo president Roger Alm, the IAA 2024 was the perfect place to present the future of transport. "Our line-up at this year’s IAA demonstrates the worldwide strength of the Volvo Group and shows our ambition to strive for zero emissions and zero accidents – both equally important for the success of our customers."
